Hello, my name is Brian Anderson, owner of JSOL Software. I am a freelance, all-in-one web guy, specializing in virtually everything web-related. If you’ve heard of it, I've probably done it! I have been based on California's Central Coast since 2003, but my clients range between San Diego and Lake Tahoe. My niche has always been a one-stop-shop for small to medium size companies who require ongoing professional web services without having to hire a full time web developer.
First off, what does JSOL stand for?
When I started my business in 2002, I developed Java Applications and Java/JSP websites. At the time, Java/JSP was a leader in server side scripting and programming languages. JSOL represented Java Solutions. Since that time, web standards and practices have evolved, new languages have appeared, and specializing just became unnecessary. Thus, I abandoned the 'Java Solutions,' and from a combination of maintaining roots and indifference, I decided to keep the JSOL.
Now, a bit about myself:
I grew up in a little town called Nevada City, California: a foothill town at the base of the Sierra Nevadas. To say the least, my passion is the great outdoors. When I'm not at my computer, you'll find me trail running, snowboarding, golfing, or surfing (to name a few). In 1996, I move to San Luis Obispo to pursue my education goals, and I am proud to say, I'm one of the lucky few who decided to stay and enjoy the SLO Life!
My niche has always been that of a web designer who is NOT JUST a web designer, but someone who is intimately familiar with a client's business and can provide online marketing, IT consulting, photography, print/media, etc., from start to finish. This broad-based approach is ideal for start-ups, small businesses, and design & marketing firms who need help evolving and keeping up with this fast-paced industry.
I not only develop and maintain my own web sites: I also sub-contract and handle accounts for other web design & marketing firms (examples upon request).

Under the surface, there are infinite avenues arriving at the same end-product: a beautiful, functional website. How it's developed (constructed?) predicts not only performance level, but also the amount of time and money spent on site maintenance. Popular options include (but are not limited to) static HTML, a CMS system (Wordpress), and custom and dynamic (PHP, JSP, Javascript, etc).
Maybe you just need continuous web work, but you cannot justify hiring and in-house designer. Not a problem! I offer affordable maintenance retainer packages ranging from 4 – 40 hours per month.
